[Subjugate] is a borderline project that combines Design, Fashion and Contemporary art. Created by the artist Norman Gekko in April 2024 the project, also called by the artist "Conceptual Clothing", focuses on the redesign of leather clothing. This design project is a continuation of the work of the artist known for his interest in recycling but also an exploration of new possibilities in art and design. The artist thus intends to use clothing as a means of artistic propaganda. The name of the project echoes the verse from the Aeneid: “Flectere si nequeo superos Acheronta movebo” (if I cannot [subjugate] Heaven, I will stir up Hell) double reference to the verse of Virgil and to Sigmund Freud, who used it in 1899 as the epitaph of his book The Science of Dreams.
